Greek designer Aristotelis Barakos is opening his studio to the public for the first time, with a showcase of his most recent works and the creative process behind them.

For three days (27-28-29 May), visitors will have the opportunity to see up-close, five projects by the award-winning designer, some of which have never been shown in public before.

Entitled “Against All Odds,” the open studio event will be taking place on the occasion of the completion of two years from the creation of Studio Aristotelis Barakos, and it takes the form of a retrospective of the designer’s personal work during this time.

The workshop of Aristotelis Barakos, as well as the entire floor of the same building, will be open to the public, especially for the occasion.

On display will be the Théros collection of lighting objects, which is inspired by the materials and memories of Mediterranean summer—as well as a prototype of the Antoinette tabletop lamp, which recently won an award at an international competition.

Also on display will be the Sermon candleholder, which is characterized by brutalist lines, and Bonbon, a collection of lounge furniture designed exclusively for Gousdovas Upholstery Workshop in Athens.

The showcase completes a new line of lighting objects, Taco de Luz, whose main feature is the impressive reflective bronze sheet that is hammered completely by hand.

After many years of experience in industrial design and collaborations with companies in Greece and beyond, Barakos initiated his own independent design studio, in 2020.

The studio was envisioned as a way to house the designer’s work for other brands, and at the same time as a way to produce his own design products, named Studio Editions, which are made in collaboration with local artisans and suppliers.
