Paolo Ferrari’s Tibur lounge chair exemplifies a blend of timeless design and modern craftsmanship, making it a distinctive addition to any space, drawing inspiration from ancient materials and traditional stone carving techniques.
The Tibur Lounge is quietly monumental and sculptural, carved from a single block of unfilled Italian Travertine.
It is part of Paolo Ferrari’s broader Tibur Collection, which includes other pieces like sofas and tables that share the same design philosophy and materiality.
The Tibur lounge chair has recently been awarded a 2024 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Influenced by the past year of instability, the design was inspired by the desire to create a piece that emanates permanence and solidity.
Named for the Latin translation for modern day Tivoli, the city where Italian Travertine originates, the Tibur Lounge expresses the inherent longevity of architecture and celebrates the craft and tradition of stone carving, resulting in an object that will live through generations.
Its design allows for versatile use in both indoor and outdoor settings.
The Tibur Lounge Chair is available in four distinct travertine variations: Travertino Rosso, Travertino Titanium, Travertino Bianco, and Travertino Classico.
