Set to become a hub for scientific and cultural exchange, Stefano Boeri’s Culture CBD Modern Technology Experience Center draws inspiration from the natural landscape of the area, marked by meandering rivers and mountains, as well as the cultural heritage of the ancient city of Xi’an.
“The Xi’an Museum will be an architecture open to everybody, designed to activate a process of urban regeneration in the area and involve a wide audience – from technology enthusiasts to children and students,” says Stefano Boeri.
“A place of study, in-depth analysis, research, and technological innovation, in the heart of one of the most important cities in Chinese history.”
The building’s structure is tailored to incorporate an expansive network of terraces, inviting visitors to explore the premises while offering panoramic views of the surroundings.
These green terraces are seamlessly integrated into the museum’s programming, serving as venues for a diverse range of cultural activities such as screenings, shows, and performances.
The selection of greenery is meticulously curated to highlight indigenous plant species, featuring iconic trees such as Ginko Biloba, Acer Pictum, and Pinus Bungeana, showcasing the region’s rich botanical diversity.
The museum comprises four primary exhibition spaces, a temporary exhibition area, and multiple commercial zones.
These distinct areas are interconnected and accessible from the double-height atrium.
The circulation within the museum is meticulously designed following the principles of “Design for All,” ensuring complete accessibility and usability for all visitors.
In the main public areas and exhibition spaces, a vibrant and saturated shade of blue is selected to mirror the chromatic essence of digital arts and design, serving as a visual cue for significant elements within the space and complementing the works of land art in the park.
