Taipei, Taiwan
Taipei designers Plan b designed “ParkUp” as a place-making project that aims to revitalize idle city spaces into locally-adapted open spaces by conducting customized spatial experiments.
The project was commissioned by the Taipei Municipal Government Cultural Bureau with Taipei Cultural Foundation.
Plan b followed three design principles (under 165 sqm, inclusive design, localization) and used a set of self-devised modular assembling systems.
Plan b has successfully completed a fitness-oriented community space, a children’s playground and a multifunctional design pavilion.
Little by little, ParkUp makes a better city where we can all share and interact.
The idea of making small, unused spaces available in urban areas has been implemented both intelligently and sustainably thanks to the ParkUp concept.
The idea is based on a cleverly designed modular structural system that costs little and can be used for various purposes, such as a child’s swing, a jungle gym or fitness equipment – and can be adapted to any surface, great or small. Sensibly and beautifully designed.
This program is planned to import Parkup Tools (Space Reengineering) as a basic carrier of the interventional space in Song Yan Court, SYC) Square, and the system of “changing” combination is developed.
In addition to retaining the dialogue between the monuments, it also makes space to have a timely mobilized elasticity, meet the future of the sapphire mouth, the future of use: rest, market set, show …and so on.
Different groups of groups can be comfortable with people here, interact with the environment, and meet the movement of the surrounding group.
In order to reduce the device for the visual impact of the construction environment, Parkup SYC gradually dismantles four partitions.
The main, secondary channel, the symmetry axis of the collapse building, and people from all directions are also gathered.
The future activities of the square are mainly restless, such as the extension of the reading experience, the extension space of the Taiwan Design Pavilion, and the venue of various markets and workshops.
The design of a matching component develops a modified device system such as an outdoor module furniture system.
Various types of malls in different heights, responding to various needs, producing a variety of configuration changes.
This “changing” characteristic makes the spatial composition and the normal time of use can be self-adjusted elasticity to achieve the most urgent aggregation task of this field.
Parkup SYC plastic life place in the huge park in the city, expecting the threshold for close design.
People can read, daze, talk, picnic or games, can also participate in various design-related activities.
When a city can make good use of these open space, play ideas, breakthrough limitations and imagination, and the city is thus progress, becomes a livable and integrated tough city.
