Piotr Zin and Ross Carmichael believe in the future of all-electric mobility by introducing their innovative new all carbon fiber, high-performance Z2R sustainable electric boat.
In process of creating Z2R, the designers broke a lot of so called “norms” and rely instead on science and design to guide the process.
The boat is a result of thousands of hours of design, testing and craftsmanship. They combined elements of traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge materials and construction techniques.
The instant torque of electric motors delivers amazing acceleration and the silent motor allows for a quiet conversation at full speed.
By designing the boat, around the small and efficient propulsion system and BMW i3 battery, they achieved top speeds over 40mph, with a range of 80-100 miles on a single charge.
This is mainly due to the unique design and high-end construction methods used.
The simple monolithic design allowed the full advantage of all carbon fiber construction.
The proportions were crucial in achieving both the appearance and the performance.
The running surface of the boat was the starting point, with all other elements, like the vertical bow, being directly driven by the functional requirements.
Using recycled veneers, the designers created a modern wood look and comfort, while keeping the weight to minimum.
All details and features (like the running lights) are built as the part of the boat, not bolted on afterwards, creating a very simple, clean and function driven design.
Unique motor and battery layout allow the cockpit to be spacious and comfortable.
Every detail of the boat is geared towards comfort, speed and simplicity, from the lightweight hardware to fast recharge and zero maintenance.
