Solar designer Marjan van Aubel together with Erwin Marges have designed the new Sunne as a modern solar-powered light for your window that harvests energy by day to light your home at night.
Hang Sunne in front of your window and it will harvest energy from the sun and store it in its integrated battery.
With no plugs or external power supply, it turns itself on automatically at sundown.
The lamp’s oval shape is poetically reminiscent of the horizon.
The Sunne light is designed from one long, curved strip of anodised aluminium with opal acrylic, SunPower Solar cells, electronic board, li-ion battery, and steel cables.
Shaped like the horizon, the curve provides a larger surface area to allow for maximum solar cells.
The solar side of Sunne contains SunPower Solar cells that harvest sunlight during the day, charging the integrated battery to power the light at night.
Sunne is 85 centimeters in length and hangs in front of your window by two steel wires, through a simple and secure hanging system; no external plug is needed.
The moment the sun goes down, Sunne brings the glow of the sunset into your home.
As an autonomous object, Sunne needs no external power supply.
This is how van Aubel believes the future of objects should be: self-sufficient and powered by the sun.
Sunne has three light modes, which you can select using an app: Sunne Rise, Sunne Light, and Sunne Set.
By connecting your Sunne to the companion app, you can see how much natural energy Sunne is harvesting at any time.
You can also use the app to change the light settings (sunne rise, sunne light or sunne set) or dim the light.
The Sunne brand was officially founded in 2022, when Marjan van Aubel joined forces with Erwin Marges.
Together, they bring intelligent solar design to market through a combination of high-level design and IoT.
Through their shared love for solar, Erwin and Marjan have developed the Sunne brand as a new approach to solar design.
They see every surface as an opportunity to harvest energy.
Sunne is made to order and currently available for shipping anywhere in Europe and costs €950.
