Paris, France
Going to a rendez-Vous and need a quick re-energize; recharging your batteries; resting your eyes and regaining the energy you need to get through the day?
In the workplace, more and more companies are offering their employees a place to switch off for a quarter of an hour, and IKEA France has decided to help everyone else with its “La Sieste” initiative.
Convinced that a good sleep — even if short – contributes to our well-being, IKEA launched “La Sieste” and invited users to test its sleep solutions, created in order to adapt to all needs and optimize every resting moment.
For a few days, eight electric bicycles towing a capsule with a bed to sleep in started rolling through the streets of the French capital.
Of course, everything was IKEA, from the firm or medium-rigid mattress to the sheets, from the duvet for colder weather to the ergonomic pillows.
The eight bicycles were made available to everyone, but only for the time of a short nap: so some people had the possibility to sleep passing by the Tour Eiffel, others by the Seine, until they reached Bastille Square.
For the moment, the outreach project, the La Sieste initiative only ran until 3 September, but we hope that it will be repeated, perhaps in other cities.
