Sennan, Osaka, Japan
This house is situated on the prefectural border between Osaka and Wakayama, and is located on a place facing the sea where is about 10 km away from the Kansai International Airport in linear distance. The site is only a few meters high from the sea level, so tender sea breeze comfortably strokes cheek on a sunny day and sunlight sparkles on the water surface. In a storm, however, raging wind and heavy and dark mass of water depict a fierce scene. A warm aspect of ideal happiness and a frightening cruel state: the magnitude of the amplitude reveals real nature.
In the relationship between “architecture, “nature and “human”, it is attempted to bring a new interpretation to human and nature by including intent and sublimating dwelling to “architecture” .
Four concrete slabs are concisely folded and each piece is fixed in a shape spatially not closed off. The four spaces as in the open shape are three-dimensionally configured and planned for clearing the challenges for living. The accumulation of the space not fully closed creates “architecture” that is opened up endlessly, makes mind of people more extensively, and accelerates the flow more largely and widely. The “architecture”, whose abstraction was extremely heightened, manifests the infinity hidden in “nature” by movements and changes of light, wind and water.
Further, it allowed resonance of the continually expanding mind of “people” and “nature”, and integrates the two as one. Moreover, infinity emerges to the mind of “people” that is united with “nature”, and the mind is freed from all bondages and is invited to the world free and filled with richness.
