Bologna, Italy

Green District Bologna is a new sustainable development in the northeastern area of Bologna. The project combines eco-friendly residential buildings with green areas and public spaces, aiming to promote community well-being and a strong connection with nature.
The masterplan includes 37,000 square meters of new housing, integrated with cycling lanes, pedestrian paths, and a network of open, livable spaces.

Architecture and landscape blend harmoniously: buildings are carefully positioned to preserve the natural environment, enhance biodiversity, and support a sustainable lifestyle. Horticulture is integrated into the design through connected greenhouses and communal gardens, making nature a daily part of life.

The district follows some core principles to promote greener and healthier living, such as green space for every apartment, greenhouses integrated into buildings, clustered residential structures and presence of water (bio-pools and canals). Furthermore, some additional ethical standards would be low-maintenance vegetation, pedestrian pathways, cycling lanes and use of solar technologies.
Green District Bologna offers a new urban model where architecture, sustainability, and community come together. It is a tangible step toward a more resilient, ecological, and human-centered city.
