New York City, USA
“Tramonto a New York” (Sunset in New York) is one of the latest designs by Italian architect and designer Gaetano Pesce created for Cassina.

The screen pays tribute to the city skyline of New York and the intense colors of its sunset.
A long-term collaborator with Cassina, the New York City-based designer has produced yet another beautiful hybrid between art and practicality.
The screen is the next piece after Pesce’s “Tramonto a New York” sofa.
The screen is formed of three panels joined together with specially developed bronzed brass hinges.
Its palette includes bright blue, pink, and green, with a large red-orange sun as a culmination on top.

The “Tramonto a New York” screen is made of semi-transparent polyurethane resin, allowing light to filter through and take on the vibrant hues.
As Pesce notes: “The material used to make it is dear to me because it has more quality than glass in terms of transparency, brightness and non-fragility: resin is a better material than its traditional counterparts for its ease of workmanship and high-quality of its products.”
No piece is alike and each is a uniquely signed piece.
Pesce poured coloured resin into moulds at different phases and the colors were mixed at random to create the right intensity.
“New York is a place thriving with innovation and colors.” Pesce notes, “My screen recalls the shapes of its towers with the tints of their spatial vitality.”
“The result is a positive, innovative, happy object that will bring value to the space where it will be placed.”
