Mogliano Veneto (TV), Italy
Designed by Valentina Gasparoni and Oriano Favaretto for Vetreria Vistosi, the Riketta Hanging Lamp is a contemporary lighting fixture that combines modern aesthetics with traditional craftsmanship.
The designers have been inspired by this classic art form, giving it a modern connotation through the use of two different and complementary materials: white opaline glass at the base and 2.7 mm diameter metal rods welded together at the top to form the iconic egg shape.
For its design,, the Riketta Hanging Lamp has won a 2024 Good Design Awards by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
It is precisely these slightly curved lines, the collection’s distinguishing feature, that inspired the name Riketta.
The designers have reimagined the classic egg shape by also producing two different forms, one flatter and one more elongated, to allow for varied combinations.
The lamp, currently only available in the pendant version, can be used individually, in pairs, or in groups.
By playing with the shapes and heights of the suspensions, it is possible to create a new, surprising light effect each time, thanks to the LED light source (19 kW) that is hidden in the white glass diffuser.
For the future, Vetreria Vistosi and the designers do not exclude new iterations of Riketta, which could be transformed into a table or floor lamp, thanks to its unique shape and contemporary style, capable of filling space and fitting well into different furnishing contexts.
