“BRP has been working for some time on how to create e-vehicles to bring new experiences to potential and existing riders,” states Denys Lapointe, Senior Vice President of Design, Innovation and Creative Services.
“As we’ve said, it was never a question of ‘if,’ but ‘when’.”
Denys Lapointe went on to say they’re eager to hear feedback from consumers as they’re “currently evaluating market viability.”
BRP, a longtime leader in the power sports industry, has just unveiled a suite of six new electric vehicle concepts.
The impressive range of products includes everything from electric motorcycles and bikes to electric go-karts and even an electric jet ski.
Those six concepts recently won a Green Good Design® Award from The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum.
Designed to give a “glimpse of what the future could hold,” the concepts are pretty diverse and include everything from an electric moped to an electric personal watercraft.
Starting with the latter, the Sea-Doo GTI is billed as a futuristic solution to aquatic powersports.
The company didn’t say much about the concept, but revealed it will deliver a quiet and smooth ride across a variety of waterways.
Next up is the Ryker EV concept which is an essentially an electric version of the Can-Am Ryker.
However, it features a modestly revised design as the three-wheeled vehicle has been equipped with new lighting units and a blocked-off air intake.
The model also has aerodynamically optimized wheels.
Sticking with the three-wheel theme, BRP also showed off the eCOM and TWeLVE concepts.
The latter is an electronic trike that leans, while the former is a two-seater city vehicle that is billed as a great alternative to a second car.
Last but not least, BRP introduced the CT1 and CT2 concepts.
The electric moped and motorcycle are described as “personal, shared and commercial mobility solutions for both urban and suburban areas.”
There’s no word on specifications, but the models have already been tested in a handful of cities such as Paris, Madrid, San Francisco and Montreal.
“We continue to constantly innovate, and e-vehicles are no exception. Our talented team from around the world is working on new ideas, and we’re eager to hear the consumer’s reaction. For the moment, these are preliminary concepts as we are currently evaluating market viability,” explains Lapointe.
