Budapest, Hungary
Located on a rehabilitated industrial site along the Danube River, NAPUR Architect’s National Athletics Stadium integrates harmoniously into its natural surroundings and is part of a larger 15-hectare park with pedestrian pathways, cycle lanes, and riverside spaces.

The stadium features a base seating capacity of 15,000, expandable to 40,000 during major events using temporary upper tiers.
This modular approach ensures efficient use of space post-event, converting these areas into facilities for public sports like running and roller-skating.
The semi-open design incorporates a unique roof structure maintained for both competition and everyday use.
The focus on adaptable infrastructure enables the space to host recurring events while serving the local community between events.

The roof utilizes a tensioned cable structure, and the design reflects a “Sports Ring” concept, blending open and enclosed elements to create an urban pergola.
This design combines aesthetics with functionality, ensuring unobstructed views along the Danube and a minimal impact on the urban landscape.
The development includes a new pedestrian-cycling bridge, connecting the stadium with nearby areas and contributing to urban regeneration efforts in southern Budapest.
