Designed by the Charlotte-based design innovation firm, BOLTGROUP, Playcore Sensory Car Wash™ is an inclusive playground system designed for children of all abilities, and for the design strategy of Hunterlab Photospectrometers—a family of laboratory equipment products.
The Sensory Car Wash is one of three Sensory Stations™ from GameTime and features soft, colorful materials that provide multisensory experiences: tactile, visual, auditory and proprioceptive.
The peanuts, orbs and noodles sway as children interact with them, and the flexible panels apply gentle pressure as children pass through.
Sensory Car Wash is designed for children to enter/exit from any point as they explore and discover.
For children with sensory processing disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, the playground can be full of challenges.
But with thoughtful design, it can be an oasis of invigorating stimulation and therapeutic relief.
The Sensory Car Wash invites children of all abilities to play together in an engaging, nonlinear way.
A variety of soft, squeezable, and floppy sculptural forms hang in rows, tunnels, and arrays to create full body fun.
Some children find relief hugging, swinging, or swaying with the soft, colorful forms.
Others love to run crashing through the shapes and colors for a stimulating but safe experience.
The soft, colorful materials engage the senses: visual, tactile, auditory and proprioceptive.
Elements apply gentle pressure as children pass through.
The Sensory Car Wash accommodates multiple users of all abilities two to five years and five to 12 years.
The project is designed for entry/exit from any point for discovery and exploration.
