Industrial designer Hermann August Weizenegger presents the Porto Lighting system, a suspended luminaire that responds to complex spatial situations, constructed and produced by mawa design.
The design of the Porto Lighting system has been awarded a 2021 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The key feature of this design is its embrace of contradictions: clearly defined edges confront rounded corners, archaic hinge forms transform into modern elements. The housing of the Porto, milled from a single piece of aluminum, is absolutely unique.
Using a specially developed production process, the outer skin of the light is curved, folded, and joined together.
Thanks to a special connecting hinge, the versatile Porto lighting system can be easily expanded or arranged in a variety of forms.
Circular configurations for foyers, linear rows above meter-long conference tables, or zig-zag formations are all possible.
In addition to modern LED technology which guarantees high efficacy, glare control suitable for workplace environments ensures optimal illumination.
The high-quality and sustainable design of the light is emphasized with a special powder-coating in black, white, industrial, gray, beige, or red colors.
